In our travels, we cherish the new experiences—whether it’s another culture’s foods and flavours, the sights and smells. When we return, we’re enriched and inspired to try new things in the kitchen.
When the floral scent of lavender blossoms fills the shop, we’re brought back to Furano, Hokkaido, at the start of spring, in the vast expanse of lavender fields under the blue sky. Once home, we wanted to celebrate the memory of our Japan travels, and that’s where the inspiration came from for our Warm Lemon Lavender Cake.
This beautiful citrus butter cake is concocted with handmade lavender butter and drizzled with lemon icing. With a sprinkling of lightly roasted almond slices, French lavender blossoms and the season’s herbs. We serve it warm to release the aromatic flavours of lavender butter. Paired with a hot tea from Gryphon Tea’s Artisan’s collection—our favourites are Chamomile Dream and English Breakfast Tea—we couldn’t think of a better tea-time treat.
